Auditions will be April 20 and 21, 2009 at 7 pm at the T&G Theater
for these roles (5 Men, 5 Women):
Leon, a
young and earnest schoolmaster. In appearance he may seem
mild-mannered and even a bit of a nebbish, but his spirit is that of a
lion.
Snetsky is
a fool, of course, who guards his flock of sheep as well as he can.
Magistrate,
is a politician, so she is also a very great fool.
Slovitch,
the butcher, can tell his thumb from a pork chop, but that's about his
limit.
Mishkin,
the
postal carrier, is a fan of folly and indulges in it every chance she
gets.
Yenchna,
the fishmonger, would be a shrewd businesswoman if only she weren't
such a fool.
Dr.
Zubritski, the village doctor is not sure if the village is
under a
curse or a hearse, but he knows he loves his wife and daughter.
Mme. Lenya
Zubritsky, the doctor's good lady, is not sure if the
village is
under a hearse or a nurse, but she knows she loves her husband and
daughter.
Sophia
Zubritsky, the heroine, is perhaps the greatest fool of
all. She
is young and lovely, and her name means "Wisdom" just as Leon's means
"Lion."
Gregor
Yousekevitch, the villainous Baron, is responsible for the curse
that hangs over the town. He's big and rich and powerful, so when
he enters, everyone goes tremble, tremble, tremble.
