That which is sweet to the taste; something having a sweet taste; a sweet food or drink. A syrup added to a wine or another liquor to sweeten and improve its flavour can be referred to as a sweet; hence, wine or other liquor that is thus sweetened. "Sweet" can be applied specifically to British wines and cordials.
    A sweet can mean something which is pleasant to the mind or feelings; something that affords enjoyment or gratifies desire; a pleasure, a delight; the pleasant part of something, often in contrast with the bitter or sour part. A sound, a voice, an instrument, a singer, or performer on an instrument can be called sweet. A sweet can refer to a beloved person, darling, or sweetheart.
