Call for Course Proposals: 2006-07

"Writing heightens the intellectual challenge of any course
and equips students for academic and career success."

The Franklin College Writing Intensive Program invites proposals from Arts and Science faculty in
all disciplines for innovative courses that encourage writing. Writing makes courses
more rigorous, contributing most to higher student engagement, commitment, and
intellectual investment (R. J. Light, Making the Most of College, 2001). WIP faculty and
students agree that writing courses strengthen thinking, writing, and learning.

Faculty benefits: WIP teaching assistants support all writing- intensive courses
The Franklin College awards to faculty whose proposals are selected a teaching
assistant qualified to assign and respond to writing in the disciplines.

Proposal guidelines: Submit through February 10, 2006
