Regents' Exam

One of the Writing Center’s many functions is to help you prepare for the writing portion of the Regents’ Exam. As you probably already know, you must pass that exam in order to graduate from any school in the University System of Georgia. Your academic advisor can discuss with you further this requirement and the deadlines for taking the exam. Then, the Writing Center can teach you specific strategies for success on that exam—whether you are taking the exam for the first time or have taken the exam before. One helpful method of preparation is to write practice Regents’ essays using real exam topics. Then a tutor can sit down with you to discuss your practice essay. That tutor will help you identify which areas of your essay are effective and which areas need improvement. If you are enrolled in RGTE 0199, you are already getting these benefits from the Writing Center; however, you don’t have to be enrolled in that course to utilize our Regents’ preparation services. And, of course, the more preparation and practice you do for the Regents’ exam, the more likely you are to pass it.
