Christopher Hanlon is an Associate Professor of English at Arizona State University and the author of America's England: Antebellum Literature and Atlantic Sectionalism (Oxford, 2013). He will read from his forthcoming book, Emerson's Memory Loss, which approaches issues of self-reliance and communality by way of Emerson's experience of cognitive decline late in life.
