Join us for the lecture “Was It Justice? Convict Labor And The Practice Of Punishment In America,” by Dr. Mary Ellen Curtin, associate professor of history at American University. The lecture will explore the history of forced labor as legal punishment for men and women, black and white.
The event is co-sponsored by Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library, Willson Center for Humanities and Arts, UGA Department of History, and UGA Department of English. This event is free and open to the public. Free parking for off-campus visitors is available in the Hull Street Deck.
