Avid Bookshop presents an Avid Poetry Series event featuring L. S. McKee and O-Jeremiah Agbaakin.

ABOUT THE POETS:
L.S. McKee is an interdisciplinary writer and educator and the author of Creature Wing Heart Machine (Zone 3 Press, 2023). Her work has appeared in Narrative, The Massachusetts Review, Best New Poets, Cincinnati Review, The Georgia Review, Copper Nickel, and elsewhere. She holds an MFA from the University of Maryland and was a Wallace Stegner Fellow in poetry at Stanford. She has taught writing at several universities, including MIT, and is now Coordinator of Writing Across the Curriculum at UGA. Originally from East Tennessee, and after several years in San Francisco, Atlanta, and Boston, she lives in Athens, Georgia with her family.

O-Jeremiah Agbaakin is the author of The Sign of the Ram (APBF/Akashic Books, 2023), selected by Kwame Dawes and Chris Abani for the New Generation African Poets Chapbook Series. His poems are recently published/forthcoming in Beloit Poetry Journal, Cincinnati Review, Guernica, Kenyon Review, Pleiades, POETRY, Poetry Society of America, Transition Magazine, and elsewhere. He’s received scholarships from Tin House, Key West Literary`Seminar, and placed finalist as for the Black Warrior Review contest and Sillerman First Book Prize for African Poets. He holds an MFA from the University of Mississippi and is currently a doctoral student in Creative Writing at the University of Georgia.
