Organizations

The English Department encourages students to share their passion for writing and literature with likeminded classmates by taking advantage of the social, academic, and creative organizations hosted by the program.

The purpose/mission of the English Graduate Organization (EGO) is to foster camaraderie and scholarship in both academic and social settings for those who share an interest in English as a discipline and support the English Graduate Program at the University of Georgia. The primary purposes of EGO are as follows: to serve as the social hub for our graduate department and all students involved, to plan social events and help welcome new students, to maintain a social media presence, and to keep students engaged and involved. Officers are elected annually, and social events are funded by the English Graduate Organization’s annual book sale. All graduate students in the English program are considered members of EGO though participation is voluntary.

The Undergraduate English Association keeps English majors in touch with the latest career opportunities. Each semester UEA sponsors career oriented panels.

Sigma Tau Delta, the International English Honor Society, is an option for ambitious English majors. Contact the Undergraduate English Office in Park 111 for more information.
